Google Chrome is the most popular browser, with 69.3% of page views worldwide in August 2026, followed by Safari (15.9%), Microsoft Edge (5.4%), Firefox (3.0%) and Samsung Internet (2.0%).
On desktop: Google Chrome 73.2%, Microsoft Edge 10.5%, Firefox 5.3%. On mobile: Google Chrome 66.0%, Safari 26.0%, Samsung Internet 2.5%.

Mostly Chromium underneath
Microsoft Edge, Samsung Internet, Opera, Brave, Yandex Browser and Whale all run on Blink, the same engine as Chrome. On iPhone and iPad almost every browser runs on Apple's WebKit whatever its name, so these shares can't simply be added up by engine.
What this measures
Page views on the websites that run StatCounter's tracking code — not people, and not installs. Heavy users count for more, and browsers that block trackers by default are likely undercounted.
Popular isn't the same as right for you
Chrome leads largely because it comes preinstalled on most Android phones, and Safari because it's the iPhone's default. 9 of the 14 browsers above have a full profile here; 48 more that barely register in these numbers are ranked in the guides.
